英会話の宿題
英会話の宿題をしたのでメモしますね。

【宿題】
以下のテーマで自由に作文しなさい。

【テーマ】
How have social networks changed the way we communicate?

Has this change been positive or negative?

【私の答え】
"Social networks" are internet services throuth which you can be connected with your friends, for example, Facebook or Twitter.

Through these services, your posts are shared with your friends, and sometimes they respond to your posts.

The response itself is also shared with the friend's friends, so that they can follow your conversation.

Then, what features of our communication are changed by SNS?

I think the most important point is that it enabled us to communicate asynchronously.

Before SNS, asynchronous communication was only e-mail, letter, BBS and blog.

E-mails and letters are PUSH communication, but they are usually 1to1 communication.

BBS and blogs are multiple communication, but they are usually PULL communication.

SNS gave us asynchronous, multiple and a little PUSH communication.

Because of these features, SNS explosively increased the time we spend communicating with each other.

Now we are connected anytime, anyplace through the internet.

As a result, I think both positive and negative side of communication are increased.

For example, at school or the office, I have to do well those who don't get along with me.

Now, because I am always connected with him/her, that situation continues at home.

Conversely, it's a huge pleasure that I can talk with friends whom I really like, until I fall asleep.

So, whether SNS has a positive or negative effect, depends on your social graph -- with whom you connect.
